The window is open

We learned in the pre-op that they medical folks look at Mary's problem as a three step process. Step one is the successful completion of the surgery. Step two is the successful healing process (up to 8 weeks from now). Step three is the confirmation that the cancer is gone. Unfortunately, completion of one step does not determine success in the next step. And, each step has its own significant risks and issues. Job 1 is to get our girl through this one successfully. One day at a time, and she will pull through.
