Dee, who is my buddy from all of the hours spent here last year, finished her shift at 5PM. The Monday evening volunteer, Alice, has arrived and is tracking progress on the surgical patients.
The status board on Mary is still "START-green" which means the surgeon is still working on her in the OR. We've tried to figure out when Mary started. They definitely rolled her out at 12:50 into surgery because that is when I moved to the waiting area. The conflicting report is that surgery started at 2pm according to some data on the Stanford computers. However, I don't know the source of the 2PM data so we may be suffering from delayed reporting, i.e., started at 1 or shortly thereafter but not reported until 2PM. Who knows?
Dr. Banerjee just walked by on his rounds. He is the original GI specialist we were referred to from our local hospital. He sang the praises of Dr. Visser as the right surgeon for this job. "Exeptional technical skill and perfect for this surgery." He also expressed the disappointment both he and all the teams felt because of the reversal from the path reports on Saturday during the gall bladder surgery (no cancer) to the change in conclusion that followed a few days later.
MaryR left to go feed our dogs and attend her Monday night class. Marite headed off to take care of her daughters class transportation duties. They both said they'd be back later. Terry is still here and that is good because we haven't yet eaten all the food she brought.
