I've read some stuff about "Olympics Withdrawal" syndrome caused by not having a daily dose of 8 to 12 hours of Olympic programming waiting on your TiVo each night. I am afraid we're going to suffer that particular problem. Back to watching our regulars--CSI, CSI NY, Bones, Numbers, NCIS LA and our favorite NCIS. Oh yeah, and Leno a day later because 11:35 PM is just too late.
Mary is moving into a nice rhythm with the MSContin. We did not replace the fentanyl patch so she is off of that now too. Its just the MSContin three times a day, 45 mg AM, 45 mg early PM and 60 mg at bedtime. No vomiting, no tummy or digestive problems, nothing, na na!
Yesterday she did coach me through the baking of the apple muffins she wanted in inventory for easy food intake. Hey, I used a wire thingy to mix stuff--what's it called? Anyway, we each had one of my muffins today and they tasted just great.
Right now, she is in with the pain psychologist while he assesses her. I assume this is a routine type of thing for a pain clinic and he'll find she is driven to fix this thing. The examining doctor who recommended this said he is likely to recommend certain exercises and physical activity to help her get stronger. Sounds good to me.
Wednesday is the medial branch nerve procedure. I have been reading a bunch on the web trying to learn about this procedure and the likely results. Overall, it sound very hopeful!
Yesterday we moved Mary's pill regimen by one hour so the first MSContin of the day is at 6AM which means the last is at 10PM. This morning, Mary took the 6AM and went back to sleep for a bit. I prepped as if I was going to work and was ready to go at a very reasonable time--although I went into my home office and signed on via our telecommuting network. When Mary woke up, I told her I wanted to see if she could eat and get ready on her own without my help. Well, bless my soul, she prepared her own breakfast, showered and dressed without any assistance! Major milestone!
All in all, we are both feeling pretty optimistic that this pain thing will be wrestled to the ground soon.
